The Sika Foundation is proud to support the protection of our nationally endangered Blue Duck (Whio) through the Whio Protection Program — an extensive predator-trapping network across the Kaimanawa Forest Park. Now, you and your dog can be part of this kaupapa too!
Kiwi Avoidance Training helps reduce the risk dogs pose to our native birdlife, and it’s an easy, effective way to make a real difference.
As sika hunters, we know the value of a well-trained indicating dog. By getting your dog avian aversion trained, you’re helping protect whio & kiwi, and ensure future generations can enjoy these special birds in the wild.
Sika Foundation members receive a discounted rate per dog, and with expert trainer Willy Marsh running the sessions, spots will fill up fast! Book your place now and join us in keeping whio and kiwi safe in the backcountry.

Check, Clean, Dry to stop the spread
Getting outdoors is a fantastic way to explore New Zealand, but it’s important to check, clean, and dry your gear to protect our environment. Check your boots, clothing, gear and equipment for weeds, seeds and pests, and clean thoroughly after each trip to prevent the spread of invasive species.
