Predator Free Ohakune is a group of volunteers based in and around Ohakune working towards creating a biodiverse and safe environment for our native species in Ohakune and surrounding areas.
We have a vision of Ohakune and surrounding reserves whereby we have abundant whio in our streams, and kiwi and other native birds in a thriving native forest.
A big dream, but one we are making a start on. Although we spend a lot of time trying to trap predator species, we are actually working towards the restoration of habitat and thus supporting native wildlife to be safe to live in and around us.
Native species need a safe and biodiverse habitat to survive and thrive and so we see that is our overarching goal.
