2026 AGM Field Trip: Restoration Road Trip

Starting 10am | Meeting at Taupō Bowling Club

Join the Project Tongariro team for a road trip showcasing some of the conservation and environmental education mahi happening around Taupō through Greening Taupō, Kids Greening Taupō and Predator Free Taupō.

What to expect

After meeting outside the Taupō Bowling Club, our first stop will be St Patrick’s Catholic School, where we’ll learn about the Trees for Survival programme, see the native plants students are growing for planting on Tauhara Maunga, and hear about other environmental projects underway at the school.

From there, we’ll travel to Tauhara Maunga via Wairakei Drive, passing several community planting sites along the way.

At Tauhara Maunga, we’ll view areas where native trees grown by local schools have been planted, with the option of walking along the new track to the lookout platform.

We’ll then return via Centennial Drive, stopping at Owen Delany Park. If time allows, we may visit another local project site before heading back to the Bowling Club.
