Conservation Week/Te Wiki Tiaki Ao Tūroa
Conservation Week is an annual, national celebration encouraging people to get involved in nature and conservation.
Conservation Week 14-20 August 2023
Taupō Environmental Education Collaborative (EEC) is presenting a diverse programme to entice the community to take action for nature. There are nature art workshops, birdwatching, fun for toddlers, and plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty planting or weeding! Popular talk night Ngā Kōrero – Short Talks to Inspire also returns to the Great Lake Centre on Tuesday 15 August, featuring four speakers alongside displays, delicious kai, and prizes. Speakers include Shannon Hanson, Dr Michele Melchior, Tāne Lawless and Horomona Horo, with topics as varied as food waste, kākahi/freshwater mussels, and kaitiakitanga.
