Members Rafting Field Trip - Saturday 13th October

Rafting_Image_for_E-news.jpg

We are pleased to confirm our next Member's field trip - Rafting on the TongariroRiver, with a WONDERFUL deal from the Tongairro River Rafting company!  The cost of this trip is usually $179 each - but for this special occasion, the trip is offered at just $75 each.  And the best part - all monies raised from this trip will go the Blue Duck Trust!!  FANTASTIC!

This trip is planned for the morning of Saturday 13th October - and in the afternoon our Annual General Meeting will be held up at Forest and Bird's Ruapehu Lodge, Whakapapa Village.  So come prepared for a full day!!

There are 28 spaces on this trip so get in quick!!  Booking and payment are required to secure your spot and are needed by Monday 17th September.  Should you need to pull out for any reason you will need to find your own replacement as there are no refunds!  An email will be sent shortly to those who have already registered.

There are two trips to choose from;

1.  Tongariro White Water Rafting (Grade 3+)

Enjoy a grade 3+ White Water Rafting experience that combines the heart pumping action of more than 60 rapids with sufficient lower grade water that enables the splendid scenery and ample wildlife to be enjoyed. During all this, challenge your limits by daring to do the cliff jump and take in the commentary from our knowledgeable professional guides.
Total trip time is 5 hours, with approximately 3.5 hours on the river.

2.  Tongariro Family Float

Let the whole family enjoy a leisurely cruise down the soft, tumbling water of the lower Tongariro River. Immerse yourselves in the magnificent scenery and observe the many species of native wildlife that will surround you. Our safe, guided route brings the magic alive to first time rafters and especially children 3yrs - 103yrs.
Total trip time is 4 hours, with approximately 2.5 hours on the river.

For a list of what gear (ie wetsuits etc) is included in the trip - or any further information you'd like - email me here.

This member's field trip went ahead on the last weekend of May - and what a trip it was!  Here's a sneak preview of some of the many awesome photos that were taken.  Andy Aanensen has provided a really good account of the trip, along with some mighty fine photos.  Too good to cram onto the bottom of this newsletter - so in the next e-news, a link will be provided!
