Volunteers Needed for Greening Taupō DayGreening Taupō Day is just around the corner, and we’re calling on our incredible Project Tongariro community to help make it another success! We are expecting around 2000 people to attend this amazing festival of environmental education, free activities, and community Arbor Day tree planting, with 4000 native trees to be planted on the day. Date: Thursday, 4th June 2026 (postponement date Friday, 5th June)
Location: Tauhara Golf Course, (side entrance) off Tauhara Road - opposite BP Tauhara
Time: 10am - 2pm (volunteer roles available from 8am - 4pm) To help the event run smoothly, we are looking for volunteers to assist with: Planting Support: Team up with students and the community to guide and support native tree planting (some previous tree planting experience required). Bus & Group Coordination: Help welcome school groups as they arrive, direct them to the right places to help ensure everything runs smoothly on site. Parking Support: Assist with directing cars entering/exiting and helping visitors find appropriate parking areas safely and efficiently. Site Setup / Pack down: Assist with setting up the site on the morning of the event, guiding stallholder parking, and/or helping pack down the event afterwards. Planting Site Prep: Help prepare the planting area the day before the event with Greening Taupō.
Even a couple of hours of your time would make a huge difference, and you’ll still have time to enjoy the activities on offer. All volunteers are invited to stay afterwards for a thank you afternoon tea. Thank you for helping make Greening Taupō Day such a special community event 💚 Ngā mihi nui,
