Kia ora koutou, The cooler months are on their way, and with them comes our favourite time of year - planting season! In this edition, we’re excited to share the Greening Taupō 2026 community planting calendar. These planting days are a great chance to connect with people and place, and to be part of creating a greener future together. Down in Oruatua, Shirley and her team are busy preparing a new restoration site on the true right of Turanga Taupō (downstream from the bridge). If all goes to plan and the land is ready in time, there will be a new planting site ready for our amazing volunteer community to get stuck into next season. We’re also gearing up for the return of Greening Taupō Day 2026! This event brings together more than 2,000 people, including over 1,000 local students, for a festival-style Arbor Day planting and environmental education day. Next week, we’ll be reaching out to our amazing volunteer community to help bring it all to life. If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, consider this your invitation. Come along when you can, bring a friend, and spend a few hours doing something good for yourself, your community, and the environment.
