The Land Rover Tussock Traverse, a unique 27km run or walk through the World Heritage Tongariro National Park was held on January 26th, 2008.
The event covers amazing scenery from the Rangipo Desert to Whakapapa Village, traversing between Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngaruahoe, past the historic Waihohonu Hut, and covering part of the beautiful Round the Mountain track.
All proceeds from the Land Rover Tussock Traverse went to the Tongariro Natural History Society, a non-profit organization for conservation projects in the park.
First runner home was Mark Williams (pictured right) in a time of 2 hours 4 minutes 31 seconds.
